AUDA-NEPAD Youth SRH Ambassadors:
Energizing Africa through Health, Wellbeing, and Youth Leadership for Africa’s Future

About the Initiative

Africa’s future depends heavily on its youth—over 400 million young people aged 15–35 make it the largest youth population in history. By 2050, nearly 40% of the world’s youth will live in Africa. To harness this demographic dividend, deliberate investments in youth empowerment, health, governance, and leadership are essential.

Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) is a key priority, foundational to Africa’s economic development and critical to achieving Agenda 2063 Goal 18: “Engaged and Empowered Youth and Children.”

The African Union Youth SRH Ambassadors Initiative places young Africans at the forefront of this transformation. Guided by the Energize Africa Framework, it empowers youth to be co-creators of change—leading advocacy, educating peers, and connecting grassroots realities to continental priorities.
