The West African Centre for Public Health and Development (WACPHD) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to improving health equity through research, program delivery, technical assistance, and education. WACPHD is providing technical support for the 2026 Integrated Biological and Behavioural Surveillance Survey (IBBSS) in collaboration with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) and other partners.

About the IBBSS

The IBBSS is a national public health survey that collects biological and behavioral data among key populations, including Female Sex Workers (FSW), Men who have Sex with Men (MSM), and People Who Inject Drugs (PWID). The survey’s findings will guide HIV prevention, care, and health interventions at national and state levels.

Role Overview

WACPHD is seeking qualified and experienced Field Supervisors to oversee data and biological sample collection in designated states. Supervisors will work closely with the WACPHD State Coordinator to ensure high-quality and timely data collection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan daily field activities with the field team.
  • Arrange interviews and coordinate with social mobilizers and key population representatives to ensure community support.
  • Conduct daily briefing and debriefing meetings with the field team.
  • Monitor data collection processes, including sampling and interviewing procedures, to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Supervise field interviews and ensure targets are met.
  • Provide guidance and resolve field challenges, referring to managers when necessary.
  • Monitor progress and submit weekly reports to the State Coordinator.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Health Sciences, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in managing research activities involving quantitative data collection.
  • Residency in the selected state is required.
  • Experience with WACPHD/IGPH projects is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with key population surveys is desirable.
  • Fluency in the local dialect is a major asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
