The COVID-19 Rapid Response Register (RRR) was a project started by the Nigerian government. It provided emergency cash to vulnerable people hurt by the pandemic. USSD registration codes were assigned to Local Government Areas (LGAs) nationwide to ensure everyone could register easily, even without internet. These short codes let residents use basic mobile phones to sign up for help. Each LGA had a specific code. These codes were announced on local radio, by community leaders, and during outreach efforts. The initiative aimed to lower poverty and reduce the economic hardship caused by COVID-19, especially for daily wage earners and unemployed people in rural areas.
