The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Center for Women and Development invites applications for the inaugural cohort of its Next Gen Initiative, a prestigious 12-month leadership fellowship designed to empower promising young African women leaders.
Program Highlights:
During the fellowship, selected participants will benefit from:
- Leadership development and training
- Mentorship and coaching from experienced leaders
- Immersive learning experiences
- Hands-on public leadership placements alongside Amujae Leaders
- Professional networking and peer learning opportunities
- Practical exposure to public leadership roles
This program aims to strengthen fellows’ leadership skills, broaden their networks, and equip them to drive positive change in their communities, countries, and throughout Africa.
Candidate Profile:
Applicants must:
- Be 25 to 35 years old as of 1 October 2026
- Hold an undergraduate degree
- Have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in public policy, law, development, gender, health, governance, or related fields
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential, integrity, and commitment to public service
- Show a clear interest in advancing their leadership journey
- Be dedicated to making a positive impact in their country and Africa at large

- Kenya
- Lesotho
- Liberia
- Nigeria
- Sierra Leone
Fellowship Support:
Selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend to support their participation throughout the 12-month program.
