Job Summary

The Business Development Officer will be responsible for driving customer acquisition, loan origination, deposit mobilisation, and relationship management in consumer and business banking segments. The role targets candidates with experience in SME lending, IPPIS lending, and FMCG business financing.

Key Responsibilities

• Market and promote consumer and business banking products
• Source and manage SME loan customers, especially in the FMCG sector
• Drive IPPIS lending by identifying eligible salary earners and processing loan applications
• Build and maintain relationships with SMEs, traders, distributors, retailers, and salary earners
• Conduct preliminary customer assessments and collect loan documentation
• Support credit appraisal by providing accurate customer information
• Monitor loan repayments and assist in recovery when necessary
• Mobilise deposits and expand customer base
• Achieve sales, loan disbursement, and repayment targets
• Prepare reports on marketing activities, loan pipelines, and customer engagement
• Identify cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts
• Ensure compliance with lending policies, KYC, and internal procedures

Qualifications

• Minimum OND, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Economics, Accounting, or related fields
• Additional certifications in credit, sales, microfinance, or relationship management are a plus

Experience

• At least 2 years’ relevant experience in business development, credit marketing, SME lending, microfinance, cooperative lending, or consumer banking
• Mandatory experience in IPPIS lending
• Strong experience in SME and/or FMCG lending preferred
• Proven ability to generate loan customers and manage relationships effectively
