About the Opportunity

Onelife Initiative, a leading NGO focused on social development and policy advocacy, seeks to engage five (5) experienced consultants to conduct a specialized assessment in key Northern Nigerian states. The research aims to identify opportunities and challenges surrounding school re-entry for married and pregnant girls, addressing socio-cultural barriers and policy gaps that limit their access to education.

This assessment is part of a broader mission to influence state and federal policies, ensuring every girl, regardless of marital or maternal status, has support to return to formal schooling.

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

  • Framework Development: Design an assessment framework tailored to the socio-cultural contexts of the target states.
  • Field Research: Conduct qualitative and quantitative data collection through Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), Focus Group Discussions (FGDs), and In-depth Interviews (IDIs).
  • Data Synthesis and Reporting: Analyze findings and produce a comprehensive report with actionable, evidence-based recommendations for advocacy and policy action.
  • Stakeholder Validation: Facilitate workshops to validate findings with stakeholders to ensure cultural sensitivity and alignment with development goals.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Education, Gender Studies, Sociology, Public Policy, or related fields
  • Proven experience in educational or gender-based research in Northern Nigeria
  • Deep understanding of barriers to female education and state educational policies
  • Fluency in English and Hausa is highly desirable
