Job Opportunity: Local Capacity Strengthening/Health Workforce Development Officer

Management Sciences for Health (MSH), a global health nonprofit, is seeking a dedicated Local Capacity Strengthening/Health Workforce Development Officer to support health workforce development initiatives in Plateau, Nigeria.

Position Overview:

You will assist the Local Capacity Strengthening/Health Workforce Development Specialist by assessing needs, designing and delivering training, and building systems for health workers and local partners. The role emphasizes stakeholder engagement, mentorship, and monitoring progress, requiring expertise in public health, strong coordination, and reporting skills for donor-funded projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct capacity assessments of health systems and workforce to identify gaps
• Develop and adapt training modules, curricula, and capacity-building plans for health cadres such as community health workers and nurses
• Lead planning, coordination, and delivery of trainings, workshops, and mentorship programs
• Collaborate with Ministries of Health, NGOs, local authorities, and international partners to build partnerships
• Provide expert advice on human resources for health (HRH), program implementation, and quality improvement
• Track training activities, maintain databases, document lessons learned, and report on program results
• Support policy and guideline development and review for workforce sustainability
• Perform other assigned tasks to strengthen local health system resilience

Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in public health and workforce development
• Strong coordination, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
• Commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable health systems
