The Community Engagement & Social Development Initiative (CESDI), a well-known NGO working to improve the lives of women, children, and youth in Northeast Nigeria, is hiring for several positions. CESDI was established in 2014 and is registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). The organization focuses on humanitarian and resilience-building projects.
These job openings are part of the Lake Chad Inclusive Economic and Social Recovery Project (RESILAC*2), run in partnership with Action Against Hunger and CARE International. The project aims to support economic recovery and social unity in conflict-affected areas.
Location: Damaturu
Contract Duration: 23 Months (Fixed Term)
Experience: 3–5 Years (depending on the role)

Human Resource Officer – Role Overview
The Human Resource Officer will manage HR activities for the RESILAC*2 project at the state level. Responsibilities include ensuring labor law compliance, supporting staff welfare, and maintaining a positive workplace aligned with donor standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate recruitment and onboarding
- Maintain HR records and staff documentation
- Manage attendance, leave, payroll, and performance systems
- Ensure compliance with Nigerian labor laws
- Administer staff benefits and statutory requirements
- Support training and capacity building
- Handle HR policies, grievances, and disciplinary matters
- Promote safeguarding and prevent sexual exploitation and abuse
- Prepare HR reports and manage staff databases
- Foster a respectful and inclusive work environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Admin, Social Sciences, or related field
- Minimum 3 years HR experience (NGO experience preferred)
- Knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices
- Professional HR certification (CIPM, SHRM) is a plus
- Experience with international NGOs (e.g., ACF, CARE) desirable
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HR systems
- Fluent in English; Hausa is an advantage
