The Nigerian Navy has officially announced the commencement of its recruitment exercise for Basic Training School, Batch 38.

According to a statement from the Navy Secretary, online registration will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025. The recruitment examination is scheduled to take place nationwide on November 29, 2025.

The Navy emphasized that the entire recruitment process is free of charge and warned applicants not to make any payments to anyone under any circumstances.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth.
  • Possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory.
  • Minimum height requirements are 1.68 meters for males and 1.65 meters for females.
  • Applicants must be medically, psychologically, and physically fit.
  • Applicants must have no previous criminal convictions.

Only one valid application per applicant is permitted; multiple applications will result in disqualification.

After completing the online application, applicants must print the following documents:
a. Acknowledgement Form
b. Parent/Guardian Consent Form
c. Local Government Attestation Form (to be signed by a military officer of the rank of Commander in the Nigerian Navy or equivalent in the Armed Forces of Nigeria, or by the Local Government Chairman)
d. Guarantor’s Certification Form

Eligibility Criteria in Detail:

  • Applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth and possess a National Identification Number (NIN).
  • Minimum height: 1.68m for males and 1.65m for females.
  • Must be medically, psychologically, and physically fit.
  • Must have no previous criminal convictions.

Guidelines for Applicants:

  • Applicants with O’Level/SSCE results must be between 18 and 22 years old as of December 31, 2025. They must have a minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English Language, in no more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB results not older than 2019.
  • Applicants with OND/NCE qualifications must be between 18 and 26 years old. Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics must be between 18 and 28 years old as of December 31, 2025. They must possess a minimum of 5 credits, including Mathematics and English, in no more than two sittings in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB results not older than 2015.
  • Tradesmen applying for the following categories must possess Trade Test certificates, a credit in English Language, and a minimum of 4 passes in other subjects in WAEC/NECO/GCE/NABTEB results not older than 2015:
    1. Tailoring
    2. Carpentry
    3. Plumbing
    4. Masonry
    5. Welding
    6. Electrical Work
    7. Painting
    8. Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology
  • Applicants applying for professions allied to medicine must possess an ND from recognized training institutions in Nigeria and a valid practicing license.
  • Sportsmen and sportswomen must present evidence of their experience, including certificates and medals.
  • All applicants must be proficient in English; inability to communicate in basic English will result in disqualification at any stage of the recruitment process.

Important Notes:

  • Online registration opens from October 2 to October 31, 2025.
  • The recruitment examination will be held on November 29, 2025, at designated centers nationwide.
  • The Nigerian Navy’s online registration and all recruitment processes are absolutely free of charge. No payments should be made to anyone at any point during the exercise.
  • The Attestation Form must be accompanied by the applicant’s passport photograph and a photocopy of the signee’s Driver’s License, International Passport, or National ID Card. The signee must also authenticate the applicant’s passport photograph.

Successful applicants will undergo basic military training and, upon completion, will be enlisted into the Nigerian Navy as Ordinary Seamen.
