JOB ALERT: FG LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE JOB CENTRES TO CONNECT NIGERIANS WITH REAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Federal Government has rolled out the National Job Centre Project, a nationwide initiative aimed at reducing unemployment and providing dignified, inclusive, and transformative job opportunities for Nigerians.

Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, made the announcement during the Mastercard Foundation Annual Nigeria Partner Convening held in Lagos.

She explained that the new job centres form a major part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, designed to connect skilled Nigerians with verified employers while strengthening the country’s labour infrastructure.

“The National Job Centres will integrate digital job matching, data tracking, and career advisory services to build a unified and inclusive system,” Onyejeocha said. “They will empower young Nigerians to participate meaningfully in the economy and compete globally.”

The Minister also launched the Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP); a key project to improve youth employability and close the gap between skills training and job access.

“Our goal is not just job creation but the protection of workers’ rights, fair wages, and strong labour governance,” she added.

Onyejeocha commended the Mastercard Foundation for its collaboration through the Young Africa Works strategy, which has helped thousands of youths gain jobs, entrepreneurial support, and digital skills.

She stressed that transforming skills into sustainable jobs requires joint efforts from the private sector, civil society, and development partners.

“The future of work in Nigeria must be dignified, inclusive, and transformative,” she concluded.
