About Lafiya

At Lafiya, our mission is simple: to make contraception accessible to everyone who needs and wants it—regardless of location. Through our dedicated network of Lafiya Sisters—female health professionals—we provide vital information and deliver contraception directly to underserved communities. Our approach is cost-effective, community-focused, and rooted in respect and agency.

We operate in some of the hardest-to-reach communities across four northern Nigerian states, currently supporting over 200,000 women through our innovative last-mile delivery model. With 280 Lafiya Sisters in the field, we also manage our own supply chain and partner with government stakeholders to overcome national supply challenges and build sustainable financing for contraception.

As a fast-growing non-profit, Lafiya is transitioning from start-up to scale-up. We are impact-driven, cost-effective, and focused on enhancing dignity and agency for all those we serve. We are proud to be an equal-opportunity employer and highly encourage women to apply.

Aboutthe Role: Data Verification Officer

The Data Verification Officer (DVO) plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, accountability, and integrity of our programmes. Working as part of the state team—and in close collaboration with the Program Officer and Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Specialist—you’ll ensure our data is reliable and our operations run smoothly.

This is a hands-on position requiring regular field visits, data checks, and interaction with Lafiya Sisters, facility staff, and Central Medical Store staff. While you won’t manage stakeholders or make strategic decisions, your accurate, verified information will underpin those efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily programme delivery by assisting the Program Officer.
  • Conduct independent spot checks on Lafiya Sisters’ performance and provide feedback.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of reports, escalating discrepancies to the central M&E team.
  • Facilitate data flow between the state team and the central M&E department.
  • Support training sessions for Lafiya Sisters on data collection and reporting.
  • Monitor contraceptive stock and materials at the Central Medical Store, conducting weekly cycle counts.
  • Flag supply chain or logistics issues for timely resolution.
  • Maintain positive relationships with facility staff, Lafiya Sisters, and CMS staff.
  • Follow up on workflows assigned by the Program Officer.
  • Summarise findings and share lessons to improve operations.

Who You Are

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, statistics, social sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience in M&E, data collection, or programme operations.

Key Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong data entry, verification, and analysis skills (Excel/Google Sheets).
  • Experience using digital data collection tools (e.g., SurveyCTO).
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks on deadline.
  • Strong communication in English and Hausa.
  • High integrity and commitment to accurate reporting and safeguarding.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the state, including rural areas, and work flexibly.

This is a unique opportunity to strengthen the quality and accountability of Lafiya’s programmes at a pivotal moment in our growth. As a Data Verification Officer, you’ll ensure the data that drives our work is accurate and transparent, supporting us to deliver services with integrity.

You’ll gain valuable exposure to both state-level operations and central M&E systems—an excellent stepping stone for a career in programme management, M&E, or public health. Join a young, ambitious, and supportive team, with plenty of room to take initiative and make an impact.

Benefits include:

  • 30 days of paid annual leave
  • Fully paid maternity leave
  • Flexible work arrangements
  • HMO insurance cover, travel reimbursements, and co-working space possibilities
  • Collaboration with senior leaders who are serious about impact
