NPC Latest News On Training And 2023 Census, NPC Training Date Update Today 7th July 2023

The National Population Commission (NPC) is preparing for the 2023 population and housing census, with the exact date yet to be determined. The NPC Chairman, Hon. Nasir Isa Kwarra, met with a delegation from SDG Youth International to discuss the Green Census program, which aims to incorporate environmentally friendly practices into the census. The delegation, led by Ifeanyi Uzoh, donated a 200 kw solar energy system to support this initiative.

President Bola Tinubu will personally announce new dates for the national population and housing census that was postponed last April, the Chairman of the National Population Commission, Nasir Kwarra, said on Thursday.

Kwarra disclosed this to State House Correspondents after his delegation briefed the President at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

At the briefing, the NPC submitted its report to the President, which he is expected to study and reach an informed decision on what date to fix for the nationwide exercise.

According to the Census Boss, the Commission will request more financial provisions because the longer the exercise is delayed, the more its financial requirements expand.

He said, “We briefed him (President Tinubu) fully on the level of our preparedness and the outcomes that we envisage, and I’ll like to say that Mr. President has graciously approved to support the Commission in the conduct of the census and our preparatory activities. Though we’re not stuck at all, he has given us the courage and the impetus to upscale our preparation.

“So we’ll continue our preparations, and we’ll hear from him eventually, that is, the date that the census will take place, because we’ve made a submission to him that he will study before getting back to us.” In the meantime, he said the President assured the commission of his support.

“He has given that to us, and we thank him immensely for this and for also realizing the importance of data for the purpose of national planning and development,” Kwarra explained. ⁣

The NPC is conducting census education programs to educate Nigerians on the 2023 census process. These programs cover methodology, procedures, and individual contributions to the successful implementation. The NPC emphasizes public participation and aims to ensure Nigerians are well-informed about the census process.
